The Library staff obtains books and material after consultation with Staff and students as to their needs.

Materials are selected and bought with regards to usage and the age of the students attending Hinde House School.

The Library Staff will endeavour to select materials which meet the following criteria :

Meet the Objectives of the National Curriculum

Provide a broad and balanced range of up to date books and other information formats.

Support homework needs.

Provide for the leisure / recreational needs of the students.

Replacement of old, damaged or lost books.

Reflect the interests of both boys and girls.

Portray a worldview as seen from male, female and different cultural perspectives and thereby communicate how it may feel to be of another gender or ethnic / cultural group.

Do not stereotype individuals, genders or groups.

Reflect the multicultural population of Britain today.

It would be much easier to tell this story if it were all about a chaste and perfect love between Two Children Against the World at an Extreme Time in History. But let's face it, that would be crap.
